Many people are interested in seeing the tinting process firsthand.  When I tint a car, the owner is welcome to watch me work.  Here are the steps involved in the process to go from clear to tinted. All of the film prep work is done on the outside of the window before it is transferred to the inside of the glass.

1The window film is placed on the window:

2The film is cut to size:

3You can see that there are "fingers" in the film:

4This happens because the window film is flat, and the glass is curved.  In order to install the film, it is shrunk with a heat gun to give it the exact shape of the window:

(Notice how I have the cord from the heat gun over my shoulder...This is one of the many small details many would overlook.  However, I treat everyone's car like it's my own, and I wouldn't want a dirty electrical cord dragging across my paint.)

5Once the film is shrunk to fit, this is how well the film will fit (currently positioned on the outside of the glass, ready to be transferred:

The final steps involved a thorough cleaning with a mixture of Dawn and water, followed by a vigorous scrubbing with a white pad.

6The film is then transferred to the inside of the glass and squeegeed several times to ensure good contact with the glass surface.

7The end result is a great looking, seamless rear window that offers privacy and protection for your interior:
